Ranger & Violet's final days together......

This morning the kids actually slept until 6:30 and I had to get them up. Their 3x3 was clean and dry, but they had had a ball sometime in the night tearing up their newspaper. These kids are best buds now and enjoying their final days of play. Today they will get to meet and play with the Firedogs who are stopping by for a visit on their way to their week of camping. More photos will be posted of this visit later this evening pending the Internet's cooperation. DSL is getting closer and I'll recover my life again. Oh to be able to just turn it on, download and answer mail in a matter of minutes, not hours and to publish the blog and web site in short order. A dream come true.

More from Max and Jack.......

Max and Jack are getting along just fine. They play together constantly and Max is always in Jack’s face. I believe I told you about this earlier, but one of the funniest things is watching Max grab one of Jack’s ears and he just holds on. Jack will try to get away from him and then just drag Max along the floor. We’ve also seen Max keep backing up and going under the loveseat in room with Jack’s ear still in his mouth. No apparent fights yet. If I’m not mistaken, I think I read a similar ear story about Cheyenne. Mary, how do you train these guys and gals? (Being raised by a farm Momma, I do what she did.....everything must be done for others before yourself...and they must respond to the routine to get what they want. It's basic...do the right thing, get rewarded with treats, toys, dinners or lots of hugs and kisses. Singing and dancing with them is the icing. But most of all, they want to please us.)

We wanted to send you a few pictures, so we’re just showing you how the boys spent this rainy day just hanging out. The one of Judy and Max outside is to reiterate what we already said about Max not minding the wet grass. Early on, we thought it might be a fluke that Max ran in the grass and even rolled in it. But we’ve had a damp week and today it rained all day. We have to force Jack out to go. Max goes running out with us and doesn’t mind getting wet at all. (Now this is a first.....should have kept this one....all the mob hates the rain. Only CC goes out with no complaint, but hurries like crazy.)

It’s been really nice to see both Cheyenne and Kodiak’s parents get so involved in writing for the blog. Hopefully we should see all the brothers and sisters growing up as time goes on. (That would be so wonderful. We love getting the updates and photos.)

We always talk about the puppies, but how is Pansy dealing with the moving on of her babies? (Pansy is watching carefully over Violet and Ranger. She still looks for the others, if only to make sure they are not in need. Having Violet here will keep her happy.)

Well, enough for now. Hugs to All.

Here's Daisy/Weylin's Sparky.......

Sparky is getting big .... 22 lbs now and still growing. Pic attached. How much does his daddy Weylin weigh? By the way, Sparky is still in love with eggs & cottage cheese.. I have to spell "eggs" because if I say the word, he goes NUTS! And, it may make you smile to know that he still likes to "slap" water out of his dish when he has friends over and they are playing hard! He doesn't do it any other time, but I can't help but laugh thinking of his puppy days at Stonebrook Garden with his brothers, sisters where lots of water slapping had to be going on ..........

Cheyenne - what a life!

Hey Gma Mary and Gpa Philip:

It's a beautiful day in Garnet Valley so we're all spending the day in the pool. I know that you said to not get my ears wet, so I'm just relaxing on Mom-Mom's raft. She said that if my sharp puppy claws put a hole in her favorite raft, somebody's going to be in trouble but I don't know who - certainly not somebody as cute as me!! All that floating and playing with Bailey and being outside is just exhausting! So its naptime. Hugs and kisses to Violet and Ranger.

Kodiak's first day at home.........

Gma Mary,

WHAT IS A POND?

There are so many new things where I am at now. And no one my size here, although I keep looking. I can't find Violet so I guess she didn't come. Tell her I am okay and hope she is too. I miss her.

It was dark when we finally got "home." So when I went to their outside it wasn't like ours Gma. They have so many different sounds and smells here. It was such a clear night I heard my first train. Mommy says that it was in Sinking Spring and nowhere near here, just in case you were wondering.

I haven't quite got the routine here and had my first mess in the house. Its going to take me some time to figure things out here, but my new mommy is pretty patient. She even runs and plays with me outside. I am not sure how smart she is though. She told me I wasn't suppose to go to the right of the patio but I faked her out by running left and then right real quick. The next thing I remember is Mommy screaming and her rushing me inside. I fell into some water and slid under a Lily pad, but I was able to turn around and stand up so it wasn't too bad. You should have heard mommy scream. Daddy and my new big brother Adam came running to see what was wrong with mommy. I was worried about mommy, too. She was really upset! I got my second bath today! I hope I don't get any more baths tomorrow.

Thanks for all the toys you sent along. The toys they have here are all for older dogs. There was this dog Mack who used to live here before but now he is gone. I can see that he must have been close to mommy, but I am going to help her feel better. My big brother Adam has a playmate for me, but mommy says Zeta can't come over till I am bigger. She doesn't want me to get hurt cause Zeta is bigger than me. I look forward to meeting her. I also wonder just how big is she?

I got to sleep in my own little house next to mommy's side of the bed. I sang them a lullaby last night and then I went to sleep. I think that made Daddy really, really happy. I sang to Daddy when we drove home, I think it helped daddy with all the driving in the rain he did. He kept looking at me and saying he wished my mommy were here. He said it was a long trip home in the pouring rain.

Today is a new day. I saw what the pond looked like in the daylight. It is only 6 feet wide with lots of green lily pads and three frogs and a bunch of goldfish. I think I will stay away from that. I noticed mommy won't even let me go anywhere near it. Daddy says they are going to be taking it out next spring. They have plans to do something else there.

I like what they call me, Kodiak. Every time they say Kodiak, I stop what I am doing, and see what they want. It sounds pretty nice. I like that better than that word No. I heard it a lot last night from Daddy. I don't know what mommy does for a living, but around here she picks up everything up off the floor that looks interesting to me. I saw magazines, computer bags, baskets, electric wires, and boxes go up on top of tables. There isn't much left on the floor but me and my toys. Mommy says she is going to buy me some more toys now that she sees which ones I play with.

Here is hoping I don't get a bath today. I will write to you again when they let me up here at the computer.

Love,

Kodiak

Thank Heavens for a quick thinking Mommy

Gma Mary....

Well, I was bad last night, I ended up going to the animal emergency room.

Last night was such nice tempetures to have windows open...breeze coming in, just wonderful. Mom had to go outside about 8:45 PM and was out for about 15 minutes. While she was outside this bottle came down on the floor. I investigated it. While investigating this bottle, it was rattling...I had to get whatever it was. So I chewed the bottle open and got the little white candy out.

When mom she came back in she seen a pill bottle laying on the floor chewed opened and found no candy. She looked at the bottle and it was her predisone medication...mom hollared for dad to come and he ask her how many I have eaten. Mom wrote on the calendar what she was supposed to take that day, she was to take 4 for 3 days, 3 for 3 days, 2 for 3 days, 1 for 3 days...well she took a total of 30 and the quanity on the bottle said 40....so I had 10 at 10mg.

Mom went online and googled dog ate predisone and read some info quick as she was calling the emergency center...she can multitask quite well. What she read and what the emergency center told her to do was the same. Now's it's 9:05 PM

Mom made me an egg quick and I ate it as usual. Then it was followed up with some hydrogen perioxide....that stuff was bubbly inside me ....soon all my food came up, including my supper from earlier that night. Mom being relieved, called back to ER like she was told to, they recommended me to come up and get flushed out with charcoal. So thats what we did. It took about an hour and half to get there, another 45 minutes or so I think I would have been close to gma mary's place. We were just outside of Williamsport.

We got to ER around 11:00, they did bloodwork, they did the charcoal...that will absorb anything else that was left in me...which they don't think any was in me with mom's quick action and a whole bunch of fluid. The doctor said if he were prescribing me this medication he'd be giving me 20mg for my size, I had taken 100mg, but with mom giving me the hydrogen peroxide....maybe just maybe I had 20mg left.,..so the charcoal absorbed the last 20mg.

My bloodwork came back everything was good!

We got back home around 2 am. I was hungry but mom didn't give me any food except water, water, water.

Mom takes 75% of the blame for this, something that shouldn't have been done. But I got the last 25% because I shouldn't be chewing everything that hits the floor.

I"m good, feeling good as if this never happened. No worries...thanks to mom's quick actions....but one thing, she never panic, just went through the motions quickly and efficiently. Thanks mom!!

Abby

(OMG!!! That was a close one for sure. Children whether four or two footed, have made this mistake. Thanks to Angie's cool head and quick thinking, our Abby is still with us. Bless you both. Think I have another white hair in my head......)
