Pansy's litter is 7 weeks......photo shoot is ready.

"Well, now.......guess what's happened!! Gma has given me top billing this week. Click on the link to see for yourself......a tribute to someone with my very own name. RANGER ps: everyone was happy to wear their hats except Violet. Boy did it make her mad to have that on her head. She flipped it off over and over until Gma was ready to throw her away, too. Then she got ahold of it and tore off the back flower and ribbon. We all laughed at her and thought she was more like Annie Oakley than a sweet little fading violet!"

Latest from Sidney

Sidney is doing great. Here he is with his adopted Mommy, Molly. The portrait below is of all Chris's pets, past and present. Molly and Rocky are Springers, Millie is a border Collie, Jennie is a cocker and of course our CC's boy, Sidney. Dale does such wonderful work. We are working on our third collection. Thanks for sharing, Chris.

Colby (Dove's Blizzard) is sending new photos....

As you can see, Colby has grown up to be a very handsome boy indeed. He is six months old now and enjoying his life of family fun and lots of love. Today he is off to the groomer's. We know when he returns, he will be the clone of his Daddy. We compared him to Weylin's photos at the same age and they are a perfect match. Mary Ann tells us Colby is loved by all their big family members and feels like he's always been there. We are very happy to know our pup is so loved. We'll post his new "do" as soon as we get the photos.

Years ago an Alabama grandmother gave the new bride the following recipe: this is an exact copy as written and found in an old scrapbook -with spelling errors and all.

WARSHING CLOTHES
Build fire in backyard to heat kettle of rain water. Set tubs so smoke wont blow in eyes if wind is pert. Shave one hole cake of lie soap in boilin water. Sort things, make 3 piles 1 pile white, 1 pile colored, 1 pile work britches and rags.
To Make starch, stir flour in cool water to smooth, then thin down with boiling water. Take white things, rub dirty spots on board, scrub hard, and boil, then rub colored don't boil just wrench and starch. Take things out of kettle with broom stick handle, then wrench, and starch. Hang old rags on fence. Spread tea towls on grass. Pore tea towels on grass. Wrench water in flower bed. Scrub porch with hot soapy water. Turn tubs upside down. Go put on a clean dress, smooth hair with hair combs.. Brew cup of tea, sit and rock a spell and count your blessings.

===============================================
Paste this over your washer and dryer Next time when you think things are bleak, read it again, kiss that washing machine and dryer, and give thanks.. First thing each morning you should run and hug your washer and dryer.
For you non-southerners - wrench means, rinse ;)
AND WE THOUGHT WE HAVE IT ROUGH

Hot in Maryland.......

We (me and my sisters) were telling Mom and Dad to turn the a/c to 60
degrees! So Mom showed me the blog pictures we sent Grandma Mary in
Feb when we had all that snow (60 inches on the ground!) and no
electricity.

I am laying on the a/c vent with the fan blowing on me. At least one
of us should be cool!

Tucker

(Update: Our Tucker suffered a paw injury, cut by a piece of tin thrown into his yard by the neighbors!! I can't believe anyone could be that mean. A trip to the vet fixed him up only to return home and find the air conditioning in the house had failed. How much can one little boy take? Stay tuned for the rest of the story. Special hugs and kisses go out to our Tucker.)

Finn's busy summer..........trying to keep cool.

Hi Gma, we don't have a covered deck to play under but we do have central air to keep cool and dry. Just checking in to say hi. My new career is male nurse to Mom. I follow her more than ever to make sure she is ok. I still have to keep tabs on my garden, so I'm one busy cocker. So my one picture is showing how to enjoy these dog days of summer. My other photo is a way to cool off while waiting for my turn on the laptop to keep tabs of my brothers, sisters, and cousins on the blog.

Hope you are staying dry and cool and corn pie sounds yummy!I think all fruits and vegetables should be surrounded by crust! I'm not spoiled! I love this time of year, all the fruits and vegetables Mom & Dad bring home. My favorite is watermelon!

Love
Finn

(Finn's mom is recovering from breast cancer surgery. Our prayers have been answered that as of now, the cancer is gone. Now our cocker angel, Finn will take care of the rest of the healing duties. Finn, you're the best!)

Daughter, Jane gives riding lessons for fun.....

Me and Pete Scott and Story. These are all the kids we took on rides for 5 hours straight! My toes were killing me!!! JANE

Latest from Tucker....Bee/Weylin's Boy

Tucker says, " What do you mean Abby has a blog too? I told you I needed my own laptop, I have to wait
forever to use yours! Mom, all the other SBG kids do it! "

Tucker sent you the only two pictures he and I can get unloaded from the camera and iphone, he was reclining in bed doing his nightly reading of the SBG blog on the lap top. The boy is annoyed that mom will not get him his own laptop because he saw Abby’s movie and pics with her laptop! Although he honestly does not know how he would have time to keep everyone up to date on his wonderfulness- he has a hard enough time convincing his sisters of it! Cathy

Mickey, Coco and Snickers sent new photos....

What a surprise to finally be able to open my mail and find these new photos. Mickey, Coco and Snickers (remember Teddy Bear?) had a play date. Bob and Deb report that the "puppies" as they call them, are doing well and are as sweet as ever. We were amazed how much Snickers looks like his brother Kasey (see below) and that Mickey is a clone of Poppa Weylin and Coco is the image of her Mom Daisy. Thanks for sending the photos. We sure enjoyed seeing them.

Remember our Reef? Here he is, now Kasey with his new family

Kasey came out of his truck tail wagging and ready to play. He acted as if he had never left and was happy to be home. He remembered everything about his home, the doggy door, where the water and food was placed, all the garden trails and specially us. He greeted every one of the ladies who gave him such a hard time learning his manners. He walked up to Pop Weylin and was blown back a little by the huge bark he received....but wasn't one bit afraid. He came back again and again until Weylin remembered and accepted him. What a happy and beautiful boy. When it was time to leave, he got in his truck and didn't want to give me a hug or kiss.....as they all do. They love their families and don't want me to take them back. Kasey assured us he would be back again to play with the mob.

Gabby's visit to the homestead......

We were so delighted on Saturday to have our Gabby (Bee/Weylin's '09 litter) come home for a visit. Mommy Anne and friend Cathe came along, too. After meeting with our on-the-job greeters, Basil & Holly, Gabby was ready to meet the rest. She enjoyed a good long walk in the gardens and then lots of play time with the mob.
She left here one tired little angel with promises of returning soon. We so enjoy seeing our babies grown up and reaching the potential we knew was in them. Beauty, of course, but sweet personality and great health.......our actual goal realized once again. Carlee (with her cart on wheels) will be coming next time to roll through the garden paths. Stay tuned for the rest of that story.

Coco's enjoying her summer.......

Hi Gma Mary!

It's been a while since I've said hello! Gosh what a busy summer we have been
having...I'm just sitting on my perch (aka the picnic table) next to Mom's
oxalis so she took my picture.

I hope you are enjoying summer with the mob!

Frustration!!!

Internet problems are getting worse, not better. I haven't been able to get this dial up to support any web site long enough to get mail, post updates on this blog or update my web site. New puppy owners are still waiting on their collection of the five week photos. Then along came a tremendous lightning storm Saturday night and direct hits to the phone lines. Fuses blew here as it sounded like WWIII. Poor Basil was in a panic and the rest of the mob all needed up on our laps at once. At 12:40 am until 1:40 am, it was pure chaos. I have wonderful photos of Gabby's visit on Saturday and Kasey (Reef) on Sunday. Was surprised that I was able to get this notice to post. Now if I could only get the mail to load. IF not, I'll be going to Janice's this morning to answer it. In the meantime, Abby has been busy and has her own blog up and running. I haven't been able to see it yet. If you want to be the first, here's the address: www.abbyspotlight.blogspot.com I'm sure this adventuresome little angel will amaze us with her stories. Hope to get this problem solved soon. Running out of patience!

Abby has grand news.........

I took notice to Abby being very very quiet tonight...you know how the saying goes. If it's too quiet, there's something going on.

So I investigated and this is what I found and she gave me an important message to relay.

Abby is working her little paws off and is making her very own blog. We've been asked for photos, stories etc.
We will be still using facebook, but a lot of people I know don't have/want to get involved with facebook...so Abby
decided to go this route.
Angie

(What a grand idea! That makes two of our SBG kids who have their own blogs. Mister H's over the trucking road reporting was the first. As soon as it is published, we'll post the address here so all can follow the rest of Abby's story. Abby is in training to be a therapy dog. So far, she has been #1 in her class and often used as the correct example for the rest to see. That is typical of our kids in school. We are so proud of them all! Mary & Philip)

Firedog Picnic!

We had such a wonderful afternoon playing with our Matty and Brinkley and their brother Jasper and guest Mandy (Border Collie). Mandy is owned by Kevin's parents. She is an amazingly sweet and gentle girl ready to play and herd the boys back to us. Food was delicious and enough for an Army, not just the six of us. They boys ran and chased after their soft flying toy and were content to receive all the love we could provide. Thanks Marsha and Kevin for inviting us to share your beautiful Sunday.
