Samantha is looking for brother Jed's photos

Dear Gma Mary,

It is really raining hard at my house,so I thought I would help myself to mommy's new computer and try to find some pictures of my new brother Jed.I think I am goingto have to wait for mommy, because I can't figure out how to work this computer. Give Jed big hugs and kises for me.

Samantha

Yes, it's raining, raining, raining........

Brady has news......

Brady is three years old now and one of Cherry/Weylin's litter. Isn't he handsome? He has a new brother, Tobey. Tobey is an 11 year old rescue that had to be adopted immediately. Thank Heavens Paddy was there to take him home with her. Brady adjusted to his new brother in true cocker style. You can feel the love when you look at these photos. Thanks for sharing. Hugs to all!

Birdie's kids are one week old........

Come and see us listening to Dixie as we dust off the
Confederate flag and cap.

Rainy morning activity for Sunny's kids.....

Now don't you just want to crawl in and join them.

This photo shows the really reds from the buffs.
Red (Hang 10) & green (Jed) boys are adopted. Black collar (Hukilau) lost his orange ribbon and
the Aqua (Hula) lost her yellow ribbon. Guess they didn't please Sunny!

Violet wants to say Hi to everyone......

Mom said I had to get a hair cut. I'm 14 weeks old and looked more like a shaggy ole sheep dog than a beautiful Cocker. Well, here's the outcome.

I put up with a lot to get to look like this. I screamed, yelled and fought the good fight, but Mom won out. Was it worth it?

Here's my back side......which I'll never understand why you want to see this view....
OK......enough of this......guess I'll shake it all out! This face tells it all.

I'm sure all the cocker mob here and in their new homes agree with
me that it's a lot of hooey trying to stay beautiful.
But that's my destiny......I represent the true example of a
well bred young lady and am told to act like it!
OK......outta here and back to playing.
I see the water bucket was just filled....tee hee!

Come body surfing with Sunny's kids........

Just click on the above link to see what we're doing this week!
"Hang 10"

Sunny's girls.......

Here are Hula (yellow ribbon) and Hibicus (pink ribbon) side by side so every one can see the difference in their sizes and not worry that Hula is too tiny. Just watched her climb over one of her brothers to dive back into the lunch line. That girl doesn't miss a beat! You can see here that both girls are going to be red.

Sunny's kids have been robbed, too!

As you can see, they are all fat and sassy. We are watching Miss Hula (yellow ribbon) seen
last in the lunch line. She is a tiny girl, but full of energy and good health. Sometimes we sneak in an extra feeding or two just to be sure the hoggy boys don't take her share, too.
Sunny continues to be an amazing Mommy, content to just be with her kids.
Today is the one week photo shoot. A link to that page will be posted as soon as it's been
published. What a joy all these puppers are.

Birdie's kids after the Great Tail Robbery.....

UPDATE: 9/25/2010.....GMa Mary discovered Rhett and Miss Melanie have tan points and are now considered "tri" colored parti kids! Whoopie!
All are fat and healthy, active and good eaters. No problems at all
and Momma Birdie is recovering fast. She's amazing, licks the spots off them and has to be carried outside to potty, otherwise she would stay 24/7 just looking at them.
Now I'd say that's precious.
PS......"Hi to Mr. Bill where ever he is!"

Birdie's surprise.........

Gril Boy Girl Boy Boy

It just never stops around here. We were just getting back from Philip's doctor appointment (all is very well indeed..no more stomach shots but still restricted for a month of restful activities) when I heard Janice screaming my name. Birdie had just had her first puppy on the back deck! What a shock. She had shown no signs of labor, ate a huge breakfast and was out back laying in the sunshine. I felt confident to leave every one in Nanny Janice's care. When I heard her yelling to come quickly there's a puppy, I dropped the groceries on the ground and ran. The first boy had arrived. The rest didn't take long after and now Birdie has passed out sleeping while the babes are nursing. Poor Sunny was hastily moved into the 3x3 in the living room and settled in like a pro. No time to take the newborn photos. Tomorrow after Sunny's litter has their tails and dews docked. Sorry I'm not very organized this time! I'll think about the wait list tomorrow, too. If any of you see this and it's what you want...email me immediately. Will check my email again tonight if the internet will allow it.

PS.....rest of the story. Janice scooped up all the grocery bags and brought them in for us. Later we noticed a bite had been taken out of the country ribs and wondered where Basil was......and the chicken I planned to roast tomorrow. Philip went on a hunt and found a wing and some bones and Basil sitting under a bush smoking a cigar waiting for his brandy.
Hope he likes sleeping in the basement tonight. I don't want to be around tomorrow when that mess passes. 911!!!

Sunny/Weylin's new litter.......

Hours old, not completely dry yet. We have five boys and two girls. All beautiful, strong and healthy. Most are red or red shades. Two are lighter buff (yellow & lt green ribbons). These photos make them all look cream. In reality, two boys are as dark red as Sunny ( dk green & red ribbons). Am working on the Newborn page in between visitors, puppy duties, etc. Hope the page will be ready by tomorrow at latest.

Philip is doing wonderfully, has walked his gardens and overseen his duties being completed by his son. And is thanking the Good Lord for his blessings.

So are we.

Updates..........

1.) Philip might be coming home....doing better today and waiting for scan to confirm that it's okay to leave. Home this evening and happy to be. The mob is thrilled to have him here, but disappointed that they must not get too close yet. Time will fix that.

2.) Sunny is now in active labor.......might have the first puppy by afternoon. All is going well. Sunny delivered seven beautiful buff/red puppies......five boys and two girls. All are perfect in every way. They are sleeping and eating with the best of 'em. Sunny is a great mother. Tomorrow I'll post a group photo and work on the newborn photo shoot. Links to that page will be sent to the wait list and then posted here after they have made their picks.

3.) Difficulty continues with connections to Internet. DSL equipment arrived, but not the installation disc. Am told I'll have it and be active after the 22nd. Getting closer to finishing this insanity. Verified this afternoon. Yippie!

4.) Thanks for all the emails of support and prayers. They are working. Philip continues to be humbled by the blessings he's received from you all. Three days of rest and a week of limited activities and then we'll see how it goes.

Updates posted Friday evening. m

News from SBG.......

Update-2:30 pm......back from his procedure....100% successful. Might be released for sure tomorrow. Tonight will tell the story. The Mob and I are doing fine. Actually it's rather nice and quiet around here. Sunny is napping belly up and I think I'll join her. Mary PS...P's room overlooks the heliport. He is enjoying watching them land and unload, although the first time is flew past his window he thought it was crashing. Did some one's design location for cardiac patience have a flaw? Beside the noise, that first experience is a heart stopper. Rolling my eyes.... M
First and most important....thanks for all the calls and emails concerning Philip's heart attack Monday. He is receiving the best of care at Geisinger in Bloomsburg, PA. Might be coming home tomorrow if the procedure being done today are favorable. He is in good spirits, resting easy without pain and eager to get back to his beloved cockers and gardens. He is humbled by your concerns and grateful for the support. At this time I cannot answer phone calls and would prefer contacts be made by email so I can answer them when I have the time. Phone lines have been down but are back on line. Now the electricity keeps going off....and the light bulb went out in the fridge!

Second.........Sunny is not in labor at this moment but is cleaning out in preparation. I'm sure there will be no deliveries this day. She is eating, resting and wondering who made the doggie door so small that she can just barely get through. I will post information on that as I'm able. DSL equipment is on the way and the new order included call waiting for our phone lines. Since I still have dial up only, that action disconnects the internet. That will change when the equipment is installed. Hope this old dog is clever enough to figure out how to do it.

Nanna Janice is on the job in my absence taking care of everything and fielding calls. She's a God sent as always. The mob is in great hands and they are only concerned about Philip's absence. Poor old Basie boy is beyond understand and dragging around like a lost soul.

Philip's son is here to take care of all manly deeds and with his father. He will stay here until Philip is settled back in our home and then for a few more days. My daughter, Jane , a critical care RN that works at Geisinger, is with Philip as she knows the ropes and is 45 mins away. I'm two hours away. I am remaining home today getting ready for the new litter and Philip's return.

So that's the news at this time. Thanks again for all your support. And yes, to answer an often repeated question, we will be considering rehoming some of our retired ladies......but not now. That thought is just too painful.

Texas Cake...a recipe shared by Tucker's Mom, Cathy.

Texas Cake
(Sheet Cake)
Ingredients
FOR THE CAKE:
2 cups Flour
2 cups Sugar
¼ teaspoons Salt
4 Tablespoons (heaping) Cocoa
2 sticks Butter ( you can use 1 stick of butter and ½ cup of canola oil instead of two sticks of butter and it is just as delicious and even more moist- that is the way my mom made it)
1 cup Boiling Water
½ cups Buttermilk
2 whole Beaten Eggs
1 teaspoon Baking Soda
1 teaspoon Vanilla
_____
FOR FROSTING:
½ cups Finely Chopped Pecans
1-¾ stick Butter
4 Tablespoons (heaping) Cocoa
6 Tablespoons Milk
1 teaspoon Vanilla
1 pound (minus 1/2 Cup) Powdered Sugar
Preparation Instructions
In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt.

In a saucepan, melt butter. Add cocoa. Stir together.
Add boiling water, allow mixture to boil for 30 seconds, then turn off heat. Pour over flour mixture, and stir lightly to cool.

In a measuring cup, pour the buttermilk and add beaten eggs, baking soda, and vanilla. Stir buttermilk mixture into butter/chocolate mixture. Pour into sheet cake pan and bake at 350-degrees for 20 minutes. Yes, only 20 minutes.

While cake is baking, make the icing. Chop pecans finely. Melt butter in a saucepan. Add cocoa, stir to combine, then turn off heat. Add the milk, vanilla, and powdered sugar. Stir together. Add the pecans, stir together, and pour over warm cake. Yes, over the warm cake!

Sunny's tummy......

"Hi Everyone!
As you can see, I'm trying my best to keep the babies comfortable and warm.
However, they are so hot and active, I must sleep on my back so they have plenty of
room to move. They have less than a week before they arrive. Activity in the
Nursery is intense and everyone is excited. I will post updates when labor arrives
so everyone can pace the floor, boil water and listen for the babies' newborn cries! "

Snickers visited Mickey and Cocoa......

Hi Mary

Wanted to send some more pictures of the "family". Snickers was back and it was haircuts for everyone. Debbie is getting pretty good at clipping cocker spaniels. So everyone got a haircut and at the end of the day, Cocoa and Mickey were wore out. They are adorable dogs, but Cocoa is still the last one to come in the door and you have to go hunt her down! I am so glad that we decided to get the little male "tonka". He has turned into a real adorable companion for me and of course little Cocoa is Debbie's dog. I shouldn't put it that way, they are both very lovable and friendly. But like all Cockers they are very territorial except when Snickers comes up to play. Hope all is well with you.

Miss Lacey Rose......

Playing with Sabrina.....
Lacey didn't get her treat first, so she stomped off to bed awaiting special love and a treat to make her feel special once again. After all, a Princess should be served first!!

More troubles with Verizon/Internet connections...

Thanks to all for the wonderful pictures and stories. I have them saved and ready to post when I'm allowed to once again. Improvement for DSL has limited our sending capabilities by half, which was very poor before. DSL is installed on our road, but no equipment has arrived to hook me up. With new puppies ready to arrive and families awaiting their photos, I am so upset I won't be able to post them on time. Check back. One day soon, there will be a lot to see. All the mommies are healthy and active. I've felt Sunny's puppies kicking and wanting out. Birdie are still quiet as she's the active one. Maggie has a nice little puppy bump, but it could be dinner. Too soon to say for sure puppies are on board. Life here continues to be a zoo. Ad now we have much needed rain. Hope you are all enjoying the end of summer activities.

Update: this afternoon I was able to post three sets of pics. I feel blessed.
