Azaleas are blooming hidden in the Rhodies
We're amazed at the show of flowers this spring. Azaleas dont' do well in the mountains....at least these old fashioned ones. The Fancy varieties (hybreds) do the best and are later on in the season. We believe these old fashioned Azaleas were protected by being hidden in the rhodies. Wind burns them badly as do the heavy snows and ice of our mountain winters. We are enjoying this show for sure.
